The life-and-death struggles in Paediatric Intensive Care units yield stories of triumphs, miracles, and hope. Sometimes health care professionals find themselves at odds with each other, with families, and
with administrators, because they cannot take the action they feel is right. Their moral distress leads to stories of resistance, witness, collusion, phantoms, and other stories that they cannot tell.
Just Keep Breathing invites you to share in the stories of health care professionals from many disciplines as they encounter moral distress in their Paediatric Intensive Care practice. This film was developed from the findings of a study funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research in which doctors, nurses, social workers, dieticians, residents/medical fellows and respiratory therapists were invited to tell their stories of how they experience and resolve moral distress.
